Single-use pouches and blister packs are usually used as the primary packaging for sterile products. They are sealed against microbes by using sealing covers (foils made of paper, Tyvek®, aluminium bonding, etc.) applied with heat, pressure and time. These “sterile barriers” may be either gas permeable (a pre-condition for gas sterilisation) or gas-proof. A vacuum (e.g. to immobilise the contents within the pouch) or a protective gas filling (for conditioning purposes) will only be possible if gas-proof packaging has been used.
We use hot sealing machines made by the leading manufacturers. All our installations are certified and the relevant processes are validated. The hot sealing machines are process-controlled and offer a guarantee that seams will be sealed at a consistent thickness via a failsafe function – to provide reliably sterile barriers.
